Nanyang Girls' High

There will be a one week, or rather 4 day orientation in Nanyang. I will be quite fun, with many activites and a school tour. I'm looking forward to it. I already went for registration and now all I have to do is learn how to go home myself. And of course pack my stuff and get ready for the school year ahead of me.

School posting

I put my first choice as Nanyang Girls' High School, second as Raffles Girls' School and third as Dunman High School. I chose Nanyang as I wanted a girls school and a SAP school. I think SAP schools have very rich chinese tradition, just like my primary school. My father preferred RGS and even offered to drive me there every morning. I thought it was very risky to take these kind of offers. Judging from the time he takes in the toilet, I will be late for school someday... My mother prefers Dunman High as it is close to our home. I told her I wanted a girls school. The conversation about going to Dunman went on for a few days until she finally gave up and told me to pick my favourite school.
Now I am posted to Nanyang and I am quite excited about going there.

Results posting day

I went to school feeling very nervous. I even sat on the wrong seat there. My mother and brother came with me. I sat down while some more students began to come. Finally, the principal came on stage in the hall and gave a short talk. I could hardly concentrate on the talk! There was a powerpoint slide shown with the title " 2010 PSLE results". When the principal finally spoke about the results, there was a murmer among the students. My friend sitting behind me was very worried about her results and so was I. We looked at each other nervously.
" Do you want to know your results?" the principal asked.
        " No!" the students shouted.
" Yes!" the parents shouted at the same time.
The principal started with overall results first, saying what percentage of us is going to secondary school so on so on. Then the exciting time came. The time to announce the names of pupils who will be coming back next year to receive a prize, in other words, get 250 and above. I expected myself to get 250 to 259. The principal started reading out names. I held my legs up as they were getting numb. I wouldn't want to fall and make a show of myself when I go up to the stage.
The names went on and on, but my name did not come out. My friend's name even got read out, the 4th in class. She got 260. I thought,"Maybe I did not get 250 and above." I was very disappointed. I looked up to my teacher for hints... any sign of me going up. He said that if he was smiling at us, means we did well. He did not seem to be paying attention. Just staring into thin air. I waited... The principal got to 264, quite a good mark. I listened hopefully. The principal said," A boy you know very well." I was very disapointed. The boy was my classmate. When everyone read out his name, the principal pressed the button for his name to appear. Two names appeared. I saw my name. I was thinking," Really? Are you sure?" I went up feeling very happy. There were four more people. One with 265. And then the top three. One of them was my good friend. The top three got 267,269 and 275. We were very proud of the girl with 275. She was a very small but smart girl. She was also my classmate.

PSLE

PSLE, my major exam in primary six just passed. For the first couple of weeks after the exam, it was actually quite fun. We were in school, having all sorts of activities, playing games and chatting. There was no studying. I had the fun time of watching my brother continue studying for his SA2 while I play all day. We were finally relaxed after 6 long years in primary school. We worked hard in primary 6 and finished 4-5 exams.
So after that, I felt very bored and restless. As my parents were strict, they did not believe in letting me go out with my friends to do some shopping, or even let me play on the computer! Thank goodness now I have one. I stayed at home practising hard for my upcoming guzheng( a chinese instrument) exam. For the first time in a long time, I felt stress. Finally when I completed the exams, school holiday also came. There was about half a month before we knew our PSLE results. The days went on slowly, until results day came...
